Things don't always go according to plan at the crag. In this hands-on clinic, AMGA-certified guide and Wilderness First Responder Jason Camacho will walk you through the practical rescue skills every outdoor climber should have. Working progressively from foundational techniques into real-world scenario practice, you'll cover load transfers and escaping a loaded belay, rope ascension using friction hitches or mechanical ascenders, hauling systems including the 3:1 Z-drag, and strategies for safely lowering or picking off an immobilized climber. You'll leave with a clear, repeatable framework for managing common single-pitch emergencies and the confidence to put it into practice.
Skill Level: Lead climbing and anchor building experience required.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own mechanical ascension devices, prusik cord, cordelette, or hollow block if they have them — practicing with your own gear is always better.
