Thursday, July 12, 2007

8am-9:30 am Yoga in the Park. Meet at the Lions Shelter in City Park. This will be a power oriented class.

8am-12pm Trail Day at Sinks Canyon. We will do some pretty minor but much needed platform improvements. Lunch will be provided by Mr. D's. All volunteers will receive a $5 off coupon to Wild Iris Mountain Sports and the opportunity to win some great swag.

10am-2pm Warrior's Way Climbing Clinic by Arno Ilgner at Elemental Training Center. Eight participants maximum.

Elemental Training Center Location: 134 Lincoln St , Lander:

Evening - Opening party sponsored by the Cowfish. Beer sales will benefit the Jim Ratz Memorial Scholarship Fund. There will be a slideshow about first ascents in the Genyen Massif of China by Dave Anderson (sponsored by NOLS). This is a great opportunity to hang out with the locals, enjoy live music and win some great gear.

8am-9:30am Yoga in the Park. Meet at the Lions Shelter in City Park. This will be a power oriented class

10am-3pm Trade Fair at City Park. This is a great place to hang out win some prizes, get to know the sponsors, grab a snack and enjoy a sunny summer day. Pre-registration for the Wild Iris Mountain Run 10km will be available from 11 - 3 at the ticket booth.

7pm-8pm THE RENEGADE: A tribute to the climbing career of Todd Skinner at Lander Valley High School .

This video and slide presentation features highlights of Todd Skinner's long career at the top of the sport of rock climbing. From hard sport routes, to the world's hardest cracks, to big wall free climbs across the globe, Todd managed to climb well all across the spectrum. Featuring footage from several expeditions as well as slides from some of Todd's own great shows, this event will pay tribute to one of the great pioneers in American climbing.


Slideshow Reception - Pasta and Salad Buffet at Tony's Pizza on the rooftop deck immediately following the slideshow. There will be live music by Steve Gora. Cost is $8 per plate.

6am-7am Yoga for Runners. Meet at the Wild Iris Parking Lot.

7am Wild Iris Mountain Run 10 km sponsored by Elemental Training Center. Registration starts at 6:15. Entry fee is $15 for non-ticket holders, $8 for ticket holders. The race starts and finishes at the Wild Iris Main Parking Lot. Winners will be awarded at the Film Festival.

8:30 - 11am Mountain Hardwear Breakfast at the Crag. Mountain Hardwear will be serving it up at the Wild Iris Main Parking Lot. Celebrate your successful finish with a gourmet breakfast or come to cheer on the runners

9am-11am Demo Shoes will be available at the Wild Iris Main Parking lot from Red Chili, Evolve and Mammut. Please return your demos to Wild Iris Mountain Sports before Sunday at 4pm

10am-2pm Warrior's Way Climbing Clinic by Arno Ilgner at Wild Iris Main Parking Lot. Eight participants maximum.

11am-3pm JHMG Cliff Rescue Clinic at Wild Iris Main Parking Lot. Ten participant maximum

11am-3pm JHMG Women's Cliff Rescue and Climbing Clinic at Wild Iris Main Parking Lot. Ten participant maximum.

11am-1pm Leave No Trace and Restop Clinic at Wild Iris Main Parking Lot.

11am-2pm Beginner Climbing Clinic with Brian Graham of Horizon Adventures at Wild Iris Main Parking Lot. Ten participants maximum.

Bouldering Comp at Elemental Training Center. Registration starts at 1pm. Entry costs $20 for non-ticket holder. $10 for ticket holders Women compete from 2-4pm Men compete from 4-6pm Winners will be announced at the Film Festival

7 pm Film Festival at Lander Valley High School. Bouldering Comp and Trail Run winners will be announced during intermission

9pm-12am Street Dance sponsored by the Lander Bar featuring music by the Chanman Roots Band.

July 2 through August 3, 2007

The Lander Arts Center will be hosting Images from the Vertical World. A reception will be held July 6 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Lander Arts Center.

In this show, climbers who are also talented photographers share eagle-eye views from the tops of some impressive peaks. Among them are David Anderson of Lander, a wildlife biologist, naturalist and climbing guide for NOLS, whose photographs have been featured in several books and magazines. Dave is currently writing a book on wilderness expedition planning.

Climber Matt Wending of Ten Sleep, Wyoming, has a journalism degree from the University of Iowa and his writing and photography have appeared in several art exhibits and climbing-related articles and advertisements.

Victor, Idaho resident Mark Fisher has combined his passions for climbing and photography through a blend of formal education, personal exploration and mentorship from top-rate photographers and climbers. During this exhibit, the Center will host several evening presentations as part of the International Mountain Climbers' Festival. Check the paper and notices posted around town for more information about these events.
